TRIANGLE EVENTS: BRAKE THE CYCLE, KidsCAM!, FAMILY CAMPOUT

One of the best things about living in this area is the multitude of different Triangle events available almost every weekend. This weekend there is something for the cycling enthusiasts as well as a couple fantastic family events at two of the spectacular museums in Raleigh – the Contemporary Art Museum and the Museum of Art.

Brake the Cycle

Brake the Cycle Bike Rally: Saturday, August 1st – 8:00 a.m.

The Brake the Cycle Bike Rally, sponsored by the TLC for Bikes, will be held on Saturday, August 1st beginning at 8:00 a.m. (registration begins at 7:00am). Bikers may choose between a 30-mile and a 52- mile route that will begin at 8450 Honeycutt Rd. in Lafayette Village. Registration cost is $30 without lunch or $35 with lunch provided and benefits the Lung Cancer Initiative of North Carolina. KidsCAM!

KidsCAM!: Saturday, August 1st – 1pm-3pm

The Contemporary Art Museum in Raleigh is teaming up with the Holt Brothers Foundation to create a day of fun, food, and artistic outlets. This exciting, family-friendly event includes special access to the changing exhibitions on view, tours of the museum, hands-on arts activities, and an interactive Ice Cream Bar. Parents and grandparents are also welcome to join the fun! There will be a special lounge where adults can enjoy art, snacks, and conversation.

This event is especially for those who participate in the KidsCan! program at Duke, Rex, and Alamance as well as Camp Kesem. Click here for more information.

Campout

Family Campout and Movie: Saturday, August 1st – 5:30 p.m.

Join the campout fun at the NC Museum of Art on Saturday, August 1st beginning at 5:30 p.m. Bring your tent, sleeping bags, and lanterns and spend a night with your family enjoying nature and quality time.

Participate in activities such as:

 Art making

 Lawn games

 Hamburgers and hot dogs

 S’mores

 Movie screening: The Book of Life (PG)

 15-minute glow walk around the pond

 Sunday morning breakfast

 Family yoga

 Sunrise trek in the park
