Celebrating Traditional NC Music: Wide Open Bluegrass
Coming this September to Raleigh, the World of Bluegrass week will include a Business Conference, the International Bluegrass Music Awards, and the Wide Open Bluegrass Festival. Taking place September 24 – 28, 2013, the event has something for everyone – from bluegrass professionals and beginners to supporters and fans.
The Wide Open Bluegrass Festival, happening Friday and Saturday, September 27 and 28th, will be a free massive street festival with over 50 bands on three different stages. In addition, reserved and general admission tickets featuring some of the most well-known names in bluegrass are already available online as well as a full schedule of the week’s activities.
Besides great music, the festival will host the North Carolina Whole Hog Barbecue State Championship, a Music Expo featuring the latest music products, youth activities, and an Artsplosure-style market to recognize North Carolina’s talented and enthusiastic arts community.
The night before the Wide Open Bluegrass Festival will be a celebration of achievement in bluegrass with the24th Annual International Bluegrass Music Awards hosted by the Steep Canyon Rangers at the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts. IBMA members are given priority but the general public can buy tickets to join one of the biggest nights in bluegrass and see its top stars first-hand.
