First Friday: A Monthly Celebration of Art!
Every month the city of Raleigh celebrates the creative imagination in this city by having First Friday, a self-guided tour of downtown’s cultural hot spots – art galleries, art studios, and museums stay open late to welcome art-enthusiasts. Many of these locations offer snacks and beverages, and often the artists themselves are around to chat about their creations. The event runs from 6 – 9pm, but venue hours vary so check out the official First Friday website to find out more information.
The next First Friday, November 2nd, is right around the corner! Don’t let cooler temperatures deter you from checking out the incredible emerging and established artists the city has to offer. Local restaurants and retailers often offer First Friday specials to celebrate the event, and ample parking is available free-of-charge after 5pm. The R Line, the downtown circulator bus, is also a great option for getting from one gallery to the next. Look for the First Friday flags to find participating venues, and feel free to pick up a map to guide you on your journey in experiencing the amazing art that Raleigh has to offer!
