Fun Times at the NC State Fair!

It is that time of year again – the weather is getting cooler, the kids are all back in school, 2012 State Fair - Raleigh N.C. A Bumper Crop of Fun!the leaves are changing – and the North Carolina State Fair is in full swing! Running from October 11th – 21st, the fair has a multitude of fun activities for everyone. The usual exhibits featuring livestock, fruits and vegetables, flowers and pumpkin carvings, antique farm equipment, and traditional craftsmen demonstrations will be there. In addition, you can load up on your daily intake of calories at one of the great food vendors – this year’s new foods include deep fried Girl Scout cookies, deep fried cupcakes, and deep fried cinnamon rolls with bacon.

The fairground gates are open from 8am – midnight but the exhibits, ticket booths, and rides have shorter hours – check details on the website for directions and hours. There is also a Weekday Lunch Pass Program for those who want to partake of the mouth-watering goodies offered but may not have time during the week to visit the exhibits. You can visit during the week between 11:30 – 1:30 and receive a refund on fair admission!

And don’t forget about the great concerts and nightly fireworks at 9:45! Music acts this year include nationally known acts as well as the annual Folk Festival competition showcasing traditional dances and music. More musicians and their scheduled days and times are listed on the fair website. Fair admission is only $8 for adults, with discounts for military, seniors, and groups.
