Local Weekend Events: Food trucks, music, and beer!
Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo
Though the Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo has happened a few times this year already, this event has some new festivities including food carts, local merchants, and wine on tap! Over 50 trucks are signed up to participate in the event, all of which are listed online with links to their sites so that you can check out the menus. Food carts will include many cold sweets options like gelato, ice cream, Italian ice, popsicles, and frozen yogurt. And as always there will be beer from many local breweries available as well. The event is on Fayetteville Street on Sunday, October 12 from 1-6pm. It is free and open to all ages. (Though pets are asked to stay home.) Up-to-date info can also be found on their Facebook page.
Cameron Village Backyard Concert Series
A three-part event celebrating local music and local boutiques, the Cameron Village Backyard Concert Series kicks of this Friday October 10th, from 6:30 – 10pm, and features the Old Habits and The Blue Dogs. Free to attend and featuring local food vendors, the event features a local band and the 24th will include a fashion show at 6:30pm featuring the latest designs from boutiques such as Hayley’s, bevello, fab’rik, Art of Style, Great Outdoor Provision Co., Jitty’s, Palm Avenue, Kannon’s, Pendleton, Talbots, and Uniquities. You can also participate in a contest on their Facebook page for the chance to win a prize valued at $150 for more from one of the participating fashion show merchants.
Saturday October 11th is a celebration of all things hoppy and alcohol infused at the World Beer Festival in Durham – featuring over 200 craft and specialty beers from around the world. Tickets start at $55 for general admission and include a tasting glass with unlimited 2oz tasting as well as access to the Art of Beer Experience for beer ingredient samples, pairings, educational seminars, a mini commercial brewery and more. Hosted at the newly renovated Durham Bulls Athletic Park, there are limited tickets available online so get yours while they last!
