The M.A.I.N. event – And What to Attend
The month of September launches the City of Raleigh’s M.A.I.N. event – Music, Art, Innovation, and Noise. A combination of multiple different festivals, forums, and celebrations, M.A.I.N. organizes the events in one location so you can figure out how to fit all of these amazing activities into your schedule! While all of them are equally worth attending, below are a few that will be of particular interest to entrepreneurs, start-ups, and small business owners.
From Discovery sessions to Pitch sessions, Forward Triangle brings together local leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, and supporters to share knowledge and network in a week-long celebration of new business growth and entrepreneurship. Held Sept 8 – 11 at various locations throughout the Triangle, registration is $99 for the week or $15 per session. The pitch sessions and networking hours are free. The goal of the event is to bring together entrepreneurial communities to provide resources, knowledge, and connections for businesses to succeed.
Innovate Raleigh Summit and Datapalooza
Both individual events and part of the Forward Triangle Events, the Innovate Raleigh Summit (Sept 9 and 10) and Datapalooza (Sept 12) are geared toward specific aspects of start-ups and entrepreneurship: discussing innovation efforts within the region and how open-data can create a better world.
This year’s conference, happening Sept 16 and 17, is focused on the Internet of (Every) Thing – what the future holds for sectors such as digital health, e-commerce, new media, ed tech, and big data, that are ripe for innovative disruption. The event joins 600 of the country’s most promising early-stage and high-growth companies, leading investors, and tech enthusiasts to discuss the “Rise of the Rest” – the smaller cities leading the next wave of innovation in America’s technology sector. Held at the Raleigh Convention Center, registration varies from $200 – $450 depending on your category – more info can be found on their website.
