Porsche at the NC Museum of Art: the seduction of speed
For their first design exhibition, the NC Museum Art takes on the exhilarating task of the history and development of the Porsche from the 1930s to the present day. Open now until January, 20, 2014, the Porsche by Design: Seducing Speed exhibition features 22 automobiles, including ones owned by Ralph Lauren, Steve McQueen, and Janis Joplin. The event also showcases the one-of-a-kind Panamerica concept car. Sure to delight car lovers and art lovers alike, the Porsche is well known for beauty, artistry, technology, and innovation.
In addition to the beautiful cars on display, the NCMA is hosting a series of events such as lectures and movies – from a ‘Tech Talk’ by the Porsche Club of America to the film Sabrina to a Family Fun event focused on transportation innovation to the Quercus Quartet chamber ensemble with a Playlist for Porsche – each weekend for the next couple months includes multiple events to learn more about all things speed and all things Porsche.
Looking at all the artistic beauty and participating in the great events is sure to make anyone hungry and thirsty – besides the sophisticated, contemporary American restaurant Iris, the museum will have a Porsche Biergarten with German-inspired cuisine and NC craft beers on tap. The Biergarten will also be holding events such as trivia nights and beer tastings.
This unusual exhibition will only be here until January 20th so make time over the holiday to visit – tickets can be bought online and all information on parking, hours, and events is listed there as well.
