TRIANGLE EVENTS: IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS!

The excitement is in the air! It’s officially the beginning of the 2015 Christmas Season. Children are preparing their letters for Santa and families are decorating their twinkling Christmas trees. Here are a few Triangle events that are sure to put you in the Christmas mood!

 

Local Holiday Pop-Up Market: Thursday, December 3rd – 7pm-9pm

Support local artist, small business owners, and the Raleigh Rescue Mission at the Local Holiday Pop-Up Market at Vintage Church in Downtown Raleigh on Thursday, December 3rd from 7pm-9pm. This market is free to attend and will feature over 18 local vendors, free hot beverages and finger foods, and opportunities to win gift baskets in a raffle benefitting the Raleigh Rescue Mission. Please bring one of the following items to be entered into the raffle: Flannel women’s pajamas, Adult insulated gloves, holiday foods such as canned sweet potatoes, canned green beans, cranberry sauce, and stuffing mix.

 

An Evening with Elves: Friday, December 4th – 6pm-8:30pm

Dress your little ones in their coziest pajamas and bring them out for An Evening with Elves at Marbles Kids Museum on Friday, December 4th from 6pm-8:30pm. Enjoy museum play, holiday activities, s’mores, outdoor activities, and lots of festive treats! Your tots will have the chance to meet the Marbleous elves and have their photo taken with the Snowflake Fairy.

NC Symphony Orchestra’s A Baroque Christmas: Friday, December 4th – Saturday, December 6th

Are you looking for a way to hear those beautiful, classic Christmas carols? You don’t want to miss the North Carolina Symphony’s A Baroque Christmas. Enjoy selections such as Shout, Rejoice! (Bach), For Unto Us a Child is Born (Handel), Magnificat (Bach), and Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.

Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis: Saturday, December 5th – 9:30am-Noon

Don jingle bells on your shoelaces and your most festive holiday costume to join others in Downtown Raleigh for the 2015 Raleigh Jingle Bell Run/Walk for the Arthritis Foundation. Choose from a competitive 5k or recreational run, one-mile fun run, and the kid’s Reindeer Dash. Stick around for fun activities for the whole family at this incredible race.

Heart of the Holidays Celebration: Saturday, December 5th – 10am-7pm

Come out to downtown Cary for a day of Christmas fun! Enjoy activities such as Letters to Santa, Official Town of Cary Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, 5th Annual Gingerbread House Competition, 4th Annual Gifting Tree Project, films at the Cary Theater, presentations by the Cary Players, and more!

 

Colonial Christmas Open House: Saturday, December 5th – 11am-4pm

Let your imagination travel back in time at the Joel Lane Museum Colonial Christmas Open House 2015. The house will be beautifully decorated with Christmas décor as costumed re-enactors demonstrate scenes of 18th-century life and offer informational tours…all while the sounds of live music fills the air.

Admission: $10

 

Ipreo Raleigh Winterfest: Saturday, December 5th – 3pm-10pm

Rides! Contests! Food trucks! Live music! Games! Ice rink! Tree lighting! Santa’s Village! There is so much to enjoy at the Ipreo Raleigh Winterfest Celebration. Join in the fun at City Plaza in Downtown Raleigh on 400 block of Fayetteville Street.

Admission: $10 including skate rental
