TRIANGLE EVENTS: YOUNG PROFESSIONALS NETWORK; PORK OUT; CAROLINA MUSIC AWARDS
North Carolina is well known for a fantastic music and BBQ scene and there are quite often great Triangle events going on to celebrate both of those. This weekend you should check out the Lafayette Village Pork Out and the Carolina Music Awards. But in addition to wonderful music and food, this area has a wealth of resources for young professionals too, including the Young Professionals Network. For young professionals, change is constant. On Thursday, June 16th, hear from three dynamic speakers to learn how to use change to your benefit at the Young Professionals Network: Managing Your Change at PNC Area from 7:30am-9:30am. Following a TED-style, topics will include:
Using personal and professional goals as means to drive change-oriented decision making
Communicating about changes you can predict, and manage changes you can’t
Embracing change as a source of energy, satisfaction, and fun

Lafayette Village Annual Pork Out: Saturday, July 18th – 11am-4pm
Are you crazy for BBQ? Then you don’t want to miss the Pork Out at Lafayette Village! This barbeque contest and festival will feature up to 20 teams as they battle for the title of People’s Choice. You can cast your vote for the best pork by purchasing a set of 5 tickets for $10 and using them to help your favorite win the title.
Other fun activities at this event include an inflatable slide, a mechanical bull, many different vendors including Two Roosters Ice Cream truck and Simply Crepes, and live music by fantastic bands!
Ticket sales begin at 11am outside of Savory Spice Shop. All proceeds from the contest will go to support Raleigh Rescue Mission. Click here to learn more.
Carolina Music Awards: Saturday, July 18th – 8:00 p.m.
Held on Saturday, July 18th at the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater at Duke Energy Center in Downtown Raleigh, the Carolina Music Awards’ main focus is to recognize Carolina artists in Rock, Hip Hop, Bluegrass, Americana, Country and R&B.
In its seventh year, these awards have been presented to over 180 music artists who were nominated by votes from the public. Join the movement by voting online and attending the awards.
