June First Friday

Tomorrow, Friday June 7th, is Raleigh’s monthly First Friday event. Always a packed social evening celebrating downtown’s culture, the city’s local galleries, restaurants, and bars often have specials to take advantage of. The Downtown Raleigh alliance has a great list of galleries as does WRAL. The event is usually only from 6 – 9pm so start early and look for the First Friday flags!

Food Truck Rodeo

Food trucks used to be seen as questionable in terms of culinary delight but not so anymore! Recently the food truck population in the Triangle has been expanding exponentially and offering all sorts of delicacies – from burgers to dumplings to cupcakes to crepes to pizza. This Sunday, June 9th, from 12 – 5pm, there will be over 50 food trucks lined up and ready to serve on Fayetteville Street in the Downtown Raleigh Food Truck Rodeo. There will also be a few beer vendors for those craving cold adult beverages. A great way to sample a huge variety of food in a truly unique setting!

ArtoftheAuction

NCMA Art of the Auction

On Saturday, June 8th, at 7pm, the NC Museum of Art’s annual Art of the Auction will feature over 120 exceptional works by artists from North Carolina and beyond. A fundraiser for the museum’s exhibitions and education programs, the event includes a silent auction for the works of art as well as a live auction for 8 – 10 specific art pieces or experiences. There will be heavy hors d’oeuvres, dancing, cocktails, and entertainment. Sponsorship levels in addition to individual tickets are available on the website.
