We’re #1! Businessweek Ranks Raleigh as America’s Best City!

Visitors to Raleigh may come away mildly surprised that we lay claim to the title “America’s Best City.” Raleigh-Durham doesn’t typically top the list of most popular American vacation destinations, but considering the vibrant economy, culture, entertainment options, weather, moderate cost of living, and educational resources that the Triangle has to offer the element of surprise quickly fades.

Since the mid-90’s, Raleigh has been named the top place to live in the country on multiple occasions by a variety of publications. For Businessweek’s most recent ranking, Raleigh triumphed amongst the 100 largest cities in America in the comparison of 16 different criteria ranging from cultural elements to crime rates and educational opportunities. The criteria included the number of restaurants and bars, pro sports teams, park acres per 1,000 residents, citizens’ educational levels, and income. Some of the key elements of Raleigh that were highlighted were RTP (Research Triangle Park), 12,512 park acres, Triangle Universities, and the 30,000 square foot State Farmers Market.
